Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

- J-38122 Crankshaft Pulley Holder
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly (Refer to "Air Cleaner Assembly Removal" )
CAUTION: ENSURE THAT VEHICLE IS SECURELY SUPPORTED BEFORE LIFTING ON A HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR VEHICLE ON OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED. ENSURE THAT THE HOIST DOES NOT CONTACT FUEL OR BRAKE LINES.
3. Jack vehicle or raise on a hoist
4. Remove right wheel and splash shield.
5. Remove engine accessory drive belt.
6. Install J-38122 crankshaft pulley holder.
7. Remove crankshaft damper pulley and discard bolt.
IMPORTANT: The crankshaft damper pulley bolt head and washer assembly prevents oil leakage at center of pulley. Do not damage sealing surfaces. If pulley cannot be removed by pulling with hand use a three jaw puller.
IMPORTANT: Do not pry against cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Install crankshaft damper pulley.
a. Lubricate front seal and sealing surface of damper pulley with clean motor oil.
b. Install damper onto crankshaft indexing keyway, use care to properly align the flats on damper with flats on oil pump drive.
2. Install J-38122 crankshaft pulley holder.
3. Install new damper pulley bolt and washer.
- Torque: 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.) + 75 degrees
4. Install engine accessory drive belt.
5. Install right wheel and splash shield.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Install air cleaner assembly. (Refer to "Air Cleaner Assembly Installation".)
8. Connect negative battery cable.
