17. Piston, Connecting Rod, and Bearing Removal

REMOVAL
1. Rotate crankshaft to a position where the connecting rod bolts are most accessible.
2. Mark connecting rod and cap with the cylinder position. Also mark their orientation. This will ensure that caps and connecting rods are re-assembled properly.
3. Remove any ridge at the top of cylinder bore to avoid damage to the piston ring lands.
4. Remove connecting rod bolts.
5. Remove connecting rod cap.
6. Install J-43966 on the connecting rod bolts before removing piston and connecting rod assembly.
7. Remove piston and connecting rod assembly.
