51. Intake Camshaft, Bearing Cap, and Lash Adjuster Installation
1. Lubricate hydraulic lash adjusters.
2. Install hydraulic element lash adjusters into their bores in cylinder head.
3. Lubricate valve tips with engine oil supplement.
IMPORTANT: Used roller followers must be returned to the original position on the camshaft. If the camshaft is being replaced, the roller followers actuated by the camshaft must also be replaced.
4. Position roller followers on tip of valve stem and on ash adjustor. Lubricate roller followers with engine oil supplement.
5. Set intake camshaft on top of roller followers in camshaft bearing journals. Lubricate with engine oil supplement.
6. Install camshaft bearing caps and hand start camshaft cap bolts.
7. The timing chain sprocket alignment notch should be oriented to the eleven o'clock position.
8. Tighten camshaft bearing cap bolts in increments of three turns until they are seated.
- Torque: 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
9. Apply anaerobic sealer, 5 mm (13/64 inch) bead, Loctite (R) Anaerobic Gasket Maker 578 to rear intake camshaft bearing cap.
10. Install rear intake camshaft bearing cap bolts.
- Torque: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
