Discharge Line
DISCHARGE LINEREMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
IMPORTANT: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with a purity identifier before recovery is recommended.
2. Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system. Measure the amount of oil removed during recovery and record.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST; PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
3. Raise vehicle.
CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE HOSES OR LINES BEFORE SYSTEM IS FULLY DISCHARGED.
4. Remove discharge line-to-compressor bolt.
5. Remove discharge line and seal washer from compressor.
6. Install caps on discharge line and compressor to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
7. Remove electrical harness clip from discharge hose.
8. Remove discharge line-to-condenser block bolt and remove discharge line from block.
9. Install caps on discharge line and condenser block to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
10. Remove discharge hose clamp screw from cradle.
11. Remove hose by flexing hose end downward past cradle brace, then slide out.
INSTALLATION
1. Install discharge hose, condenser end of line first, flexing hose to clear cradle brace.
NOTE: Do not lubricate seal washers.
IMPORTANT: Always install new seal washers.
2. Remove discharge line cap and install new seal washer.
3. Remove condenser block cap and install discharge line.
4. Hand start discharge line to condenser block bolt.
Torque: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)
5. Remove cap from compressor discharge port.
NOTE: Do not lubricate seal washer.
IMPORTANT: Always install new seal washer.
6. Remove cap from discharge line and install new seal washer.
7. Install discharge line-to-compressor and hand start.
Torque: 40 N.m (30 ft-lbs)
8. Snap electrical harness clip onto discharge pipe.
9. Install discharge line clamp to cradle screw.
10. Lower vehicle.
11. Connect negative battery cable.
Torque: 17 N.m (151 in-lbs)
12. Evacuate, charge, and leak check the A/C system.
