Engine Hesitation Under Heavy Acceleration (Inspect Fuel Return Hose and Jet Valve Fitting on Fuel Pump Housing and Repair as Necessary)

MODELS AFFECTED:
2000 Saturn L-Series vehicles

CONDITION:

Some customers may comment about an engine hesitation under heavy acceleration or after turning a corner. This condition will be more noticeable with lower levels of fuel in the fuel tank (1/4 tank or less). This condition may also be accompanied by DTCs P0136 and/or P0156 on V6 (L81) equipped vehicles, or P0137 on 4 cyl. (L61) equipped vehicles.

CAUSE:

The hesitation may be caused by a drop in fuel pressure due to a malfunctioning jet valve on the fuel pump housing, or a faulty fuel pump assembly.

CORRECTION:

Follow the procedure in this bulletin to inspect the fuel return hose and jet valve fitting on fuel pump housing.
