Procedure
CAUTION:DO NOT ALLOW SMOKING OR THE USE OF OPEN FLAMES IN THE AREA WHERE WORK ON THE FUEL OR EVAP SYSTEM IS TAKING PLACE. ANYTIME WORK IS BEING DONE ON THE FUEL SYSTEM, DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.
1. Ignition Off.
2. Disconnect purge line quick connect from EVAP purge solenoid.
3. Disconnect EVAP purge solenoid electrical connector.
4. Remove EVAP purge solenoid vacuum line from throttle body and retaining clips.
5. Lift EVAP purge solenoid from bracket on air cleaner housing to remove solenoid and vacuum line together.
6. Disconnect [1][2]EVAP purge line on front-of-dash from retaining clips.
7. Disconnect [1][2]EVAP purge line quick connect from underbody purge line and remove line.
8. Remove green quick connect retainer from male end of underbody purge line and discard.
9. Remove fuel line bracket and discard.
10. Install new EVAP purge solenoid and bracket assembly in place of old fuel line bracket.
Torque:
EVAP Purge Solenoid Bracket
Bolt: 8 Nm (71 in-lbs)
11. Install new [1][2]EVAP purge line between solenoid assembly and underbody purge line.
12. Install new [1][2]EVAP purge line between new solenoid and throttle body port. Insert line into all retaining clips.
NOTICE:
Do not attempt to keep wire harness retainer connected to stud on RH strut tower. When harness is rerouted to the solenoid location, the harness will not be long enough to be attached at strut tower and still allow for engine movement.
13. Remove EVAP purge solenoid wire harness retainer from stud on RH strut tower.
14. Install electrical connector to new EVAP purge solenoid.
15. Install plastic tie strap around main engine harness as shown to prevent harness from rubbing on any nearby components.
