Shift Linkage: Adjustments
Tools Required- 8792335-Shift Linkage Lock Pin
1. Pull up control lever assembly boot to disengage from console.
2. Move shift lever to 5th/Reverse Gate and use a 3/8" punch to hold in place.
3. Lock transaxle shift control shaft in 5th/Reverse gate. There is a hole on top of transaxle that will have either a spring loaded locking pin or a hole plug.
- If hole has a spring loaded locking pin, depress pin to lock transaxle shift control shaft in 5th/Reverse gate.
- If hole has a plug in it, remove plug and insert linkage lock pin 8792335 in hole to lock transaxle shift control shaft in 5th/Reverse gate. (If plug is not damage, it can be reused.)
IMPORTANT: If you cannot depress the pin or fully install 8792335, loosen the pinch bolt securing the control assembly rod to the control shaft lever assembly.
4. Rotate transaxle shift control shaft clockwise (towards passenger side of vehicle) until the locking pin can be depressed, or 8792335 can be fully installed.
5. Tighten pinch bolt securing control assembly rod to control shaft lever assembly.
Torque: 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) + 180°
6. If the spring loaded locking pin is in the transaxle hole, remove punch from shift lever and rock lever back and forth until lever can be moved freely.
IMPORTANT: If the transaxle hole plug was damaged during removal, install a new plug during reassembly.
7. If there was a plug in the transaxle hole, remove 8792335 from transaxle and reinstall transaxle plug. Remove punch from shift lever.
8. Snap control lever boot into console opening.
