Caution: A passenger airbag deployment causes bending of the I/P cross car beam brackets that can affect a second air bag deployment and injure passengers. To help avoid injury to passengers, always replace the I/P cross car beam before replacing a deployed passenger air bag module.


Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument panel.
2. Remove the steering wheel and steering column fasteners.
3. Remove the beam assembly.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the cross car beam assembly into position.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Insert J 43894 into front body hinge pillar. Install the cross car beam fasteners.

Tighten the cross car beam fasteners to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).

3. Install the steering column.
4. Install the instrument panel.
When the vehicle is completely reassembled, performance check the following systems:

* All electrical systems
* Braking systems
* HVAC system
* Steering system
* Water leak test modular dash and windshield. Check all seams for water leaks and air leaks.
* Engine cooling system
* Engine air intake system

5. Install the steering wheel.
