Drive Belt: Service and Repair
Minor cracks in belt rib are normal. They are the result of reverse bending around a backside pulley. Do not replace belts for minor cracks.Belts that have chunking longer than 5 mm (13/16 inch) in one or more places should be replaced.
Belts should also he replaced if cord breakage or fabric separation is observed.
REMOVAL
1. Depress tensioner arm using a 3/8 inch drive breaker bar.
2. Remove belt assembly off idler or A/C compressor pulley.
3. Remove accessory drive belt.
INSTALLATION
1. Route belt around all pulleys, except for idler pulley.
2. Depress tensioner arm using 3/8 inch drive breaker bar.
NOTICE: Make sure that belt is properly aligned on pulleys.
3. Slip belt over idler pulley.
