19. Forward Clutch Assemble

Tools Required
- J41231 Inner Seal Installer
- J23327 Return Spring Compressor





1. Assemble a new inner seal assembly if the old seal was damaged and removed. Use an arbor press and J41231 in order to press the inner seal assembly onto the forward clutch housing.





2. Assemble forward clutch piston assembly into forward clutch housing. In order to ease assembly, lubricate seals with transaxle fluid.
3. With snap ring tabs facing up, assemble forward clutch return spring assembly into forward clutch housing.





NOTICE: In order to prevent damage to the spring assembly, only compress the return spring assembly enough so that snap ring can be installed.

4. Compress return spring assembly. Use J23327.
5. Assemble snap ring in order to retain forward clutch return spring.
6. Remove J23327.





7. Install forward clutch waved plate.
8. Install seven steel plates and seven new fiber plates in alternating order beginning with a steel plate.
9. Install forward clutch backing plate.
10. Install forward clutch backing plate snap ring in order to retain clutch pack.
