2. Place a drain pan under transaxle oil pan.
3. Remove oil pan bolts from front and sides only.
4. Loosen rear oil pan bolts approximately four turns.

NOTICE: Pry the oil pan carefully in order to prevent damage to transaxle case or oil pan sealing surfaces.

5. Lightly tap oil pan with a rubber mallet or carefully pry in order to allow oil to drain.
6. Inspect fluid color.

7. Remove remaining oil pan bolts, and oil pan.
8. Remove oil pan gasket.

9. Remove oil level control valve.
10. Remove oil filter, and oil filter O-ring seal. Seal may stay in case when filter is removed.

13. Remove all traces of old gasket material. Clean transaxle case and oil pan gasket surfaces with solvent, and allow to air dry.

INSTALLATION

NOTICE: Use petroleum jelly when lubricating components. Greases other than petroleum jelly will change the transaxle fluid characteristics and will cause undesirable shift conditions or filter clogging.

1. Install new filter neck seal. A large socket can be used as an installation tool as shown. Two mallets can be used as well.

2. Coat new filter O-ring seal with a small amount of petroleum jelly, and install filter into case.

NOTICE: Push straight up on center of valve in order to prevent damage to case bore.

3. Install oil level control valve.

4. Install oil pan gasket, oil pan and hand start oil pan bolts.
Torque: 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)
5. Lower vehicle

6. Refill transaxle using DEXRON(R)III (P/N 21019228) or equivalent oil to specified refill capacity.

7. Start engine, warm up transaxle, and check for leaks.
8. Check for proper fluid level.
