A/C - Oil Accumulation at Set Screw Rear of Compressor
BULLETIN NO.: 99-T-32ISSUE DATE: August, 1999
GROUP/SEQ. NO.: HVAC-04
CORPORATION NO.: 99-01-37-005
SUBJECT:
A/C System PAG Oil Accumulation at Set Screw on Rear Head of A/C Compressor (Wipe Off Excess Oil at Set Screw)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1999 - 2000 Saturn S-Series vehicles equipped with A/C (RPO code C60)
All 2000 Saturn L-Series vehicles
CONDITION:
During pre-delivery inspection (PDI) at Saturn Retailers, a small amount of A/C system PAG oil may be noticed at rear head of A/C compressor around bottom of set screw (refer to illustration in this bulletin). This may also be present on service replacement compressors.
CAUSE:
An excessive amount of PAG oil may have been used to lubricate the set screw 0-ring during installation of set screw into rear head of A/C compressor. This accumulation of PAG oil from assembly is not an indication of an A/C system leak.
CORRECTION:
Wipe off excess PAG oil at set screw location on rear of A/C compressor if necessary.
