Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information to address customer comments about noise coming from the audio system when other electrical components in the vehicle are activated or used. One example is that some customers might comment on a popping noise through the speakers when the brake pedal is depressed. The noise is due to electronic feedback coming from the brake/stop lamp switch. This concern can be addressed by referring to the "Symptom Table - Noise and Reception Performance Complaints" subsection located in the Entertainment section of the appropriate 2000-2003 Saturn L-Series Body Electrical Diagnostics Service Manual. This section of the manual will provide diagnostic aids and service procedures for suppressing Audio System noises. The Symptom Table from the 2002-2003 Saturn L-Series Body Electrical Diagnostics Service Manual is reproduced below as an example.
