Shifter Control Assembly
REMOVAL1. Disable SIR system.
2. Remove control lever boot assembly.
NOTICE: Shifter control assembly to floorpan attachment nuts must be removed for access to cable ends. Attempting to remove cable ends without assembly removal will cause cable damage.
3. Remove bolt from cable retaining plate and remove plate.
4. Remove shifter control assembly to floorpan attachment nuts.
5. Remove plastic cable guide from shifter using a screwdriver.
6. Disconnect wiring harness clip from shifter control assembly.
7. Lay shifter on its side to provide access to cable ends.
IMPORTANT: Do not pry off cable end with a single screwdriver.
8. Remove the selector cable from the shifter bell crank. Use two flat blade screwdrivers and a twisting motion to separate the cable end from the bell crank.
9. Grasp the cable end with long pliers and rotate rod end as shown.
INSTALLATION
1. Connect cables to shifter control assembly. When installing shifter cable, use a pair of channel lock pliers to snap cable end socket into ball.
NOTICE: Use care when handling shifter control assembly while installing cables. The push rods can be bent, which will affect shifting.
2. Install shifter control assembly retaining nuts.
- Torque: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
IMPORTANT: Install cable retainer plate with arrow pointing toward front of vehicle.
3. Install cable retainer plate and install bolt.
- Torque: 10 Nm (88 inch lbs.)
4. Install cable guide.
5. Check to see that cables are not kinked and that shifter operates properly.
6. Install wiring harness clip to shifter control assembly.
7. Install control lever boot assembly.
8. Enable SIR system.
