Space Frame
SPACE FRAMEThe space frame assembly is painted with 50 percent gloss black topcoat. To duplicate factory painted appearance, refinish all visible areas of the space frame with PPG 9971 50 percent gloss black topcoat or equivalent. For proper adhesion of topcoat in service, the following refinishing steps are necessary.
1. Wash the damaged panel and surrounding areas with water and mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and let dry.
2. Clean part with a PPG D837 Acrylic-CleanTM or equivalent.
3. Sand entire panel with 240 grade sandpaper.
4. Clean all sanded areas with PPG D846 Multi-Prep Cleaner or equivalent to remove sanding residue.
5. Sand entire panel wi6th 240 grade sandpaper.
6. Apply one coat of PPG DP90LF Epoxy Primer of equivalent primer over all bare metal areas.
7. Allow 30 minutes dry time before applying primer surfacer.
8. Apply PPG D839 Urethane Primer Surfacer to entire part; allow to dry thoroughly before sanding. Follow label directions for drying time.
9. Sand primer surfacer using wet or dry 400 grade sandpaper and water.
10. Apply PPG 9971 50 percent gloss black topcoat to repair area.
