Heater Core - HVAC System - Manual (LHD Only)
REMOVAL1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Move clamps up heater core hoses.
NOTE: Blow remainder of coolant out of heater core with an air hose to prevent spilling coolant on vehicle interior when removing heater core.
5. Remove hoses from heater core.
6. Remove left and right lower trim panel extensions by pulling outward at dual lock locations. Then rotate panels outward to disengage hinges from console.
7. Remove I/P lower closeout panel by pulling out at the top edge and then rotating the top downward.
8. Remove screws and clips on lower heater duct.
9. Drop heater duct straight down and carefully slide out sideways.
NOTE: Take care not to damage heater duct-to-rear floor heater duct seal.
10. Release temperature cable hold down clip from lower heater core cover by carefully lifting up on plastic tab while pushing down on top of cable.
11. Slide cable off of temperature door hook.
12. Remove temperature cable. (Service linkage shown in illustration.)
13. Remove screw and heater core side cover.
14. Remove screws and lower heater core cover.
15. Remove screw and lower heater core retainer.
NOTE: Place absorbent towels under heater core pipe to prevent spilling any residual coolant on carpeting.
16. Remove heater core.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Be careful not to damage heater core pipe seal when installing pipes through cowl. Lubricate pipes with petroleum jelly.
1. Install heater core.
2. Install lower heater core retainer and screw.
3. Install lower heater core cover and screws.
Torque: 1.7 N.m (15 in-lbs)
4. Install heater core side cover and screw.
Torque: 1.7 N.m (15 in-lbs)
5. Push temperature cable over pin and snap temperature cable hold down clip over temperature cable holder.
NOTE: Take care not to damage rear floor heater duct seal.
6. Install heater duct by carefully sliding in sideways and up into position.
7. Install screws and clips on lower heater duct.
Torque: 1.7 N.m (15 in-lbs)
8. Install left and right lower trim panel extensions by inserting hinges into console openings. Then rotate closed and push in at dual lock locations.
9. Install I/P lower closeout panel by inserting bottom clip into module heater duct and rotating upward to snap in top clip.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
10. Raise vehicle.
NOTE: Be careful not to push hoses onto heater core so far that foam seal is unseated.
11. Install hose and clamp on heater core outlet. Position clamp at a 7-8 o'clock position.
12. Install hose and clamp on heater core inlet. Position clamp at a 6 o'clock position.
13. Fill and pressure test the cooling system.
14. Connect negative battery cable.
