Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove power steering pump as previously described.
3. Remove pressure and return hoses from power steering pump.
4. Place an approved drain container underneath pressure and return hoses at steering gear.
5. Remove power steering pump pressure and return hoses from steering gear and allow hoses to drain.
INSTALLATION
1. Inspect O-ring seals on each end of the pressure hose and on the gear end of the return hose and replace if necessary.
2. Install power steering pressure and return hoses to steering gear.
Torque: 27.5 Nm (20 ft. lbs.)
3. Install pressure and return hoses into power steering pump.
Torque: 27.5 Nm (20 ft. lbs.)
4. Install pump into vehicle as previously described.
5. Fill power steering reservoir with clean power steering fluid.
6. Install power steering pump reservoir fill cap.
7. Connect negative battery cable.
Torque: 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
8. Bleed power steering system. (Refer to "Power Steering Bleed Procedure".)
