Front Seat Recliner Actuator Motor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 79921AA1
Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat removal procedure in this section.
2. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 79937AA1
Remove the front seat back pad/cover. Refer to Front Seat Pad/Cover removal procedure in this section.
3. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 81029AA1
Remove the front seat back power recliner actuator motor electrical connections.
4. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 80275AA1
Remove the retaining clip from the recliner actuator shaft.
5. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 79939AA1
Partially remove the shaft then remove the recliner motor fasteners and remove the recliner actuator motor.

Installation Procedure

1. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 79939AA1
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the recliner actuator motor and the fasteners.

Tighten the seat back recliner motor-to-seat adjuster fasteners to 6 Nm (53 lb in).

2. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 80278AA1
Install the front seatback recliner actuator shaft and secure with the retainer.
3. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 81029AA1
Install the front seat back power recliner actuator motor electrical connections.
4. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 79437AA1
Install the front seat back pad/cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Pad/Cover installation procedure in this section.
5. INSERT GRAPHIC SMVIS 79721AA1
Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat installation procedure in this section.
