Clutch Master Cylinder: Service and Repair

Clutch Master Cylinder
REMOVAL





1. Clean brake fluid reservoir cap and area around cap.
2. Remove brake fluid reservoir cap and remove enough brake fluid to clear passage to clutch master cylinder.
3. Disconnect clutch hydraulic line assembly from body retaining clips.
4. Remove clutch hydraulic line assembly from clutch master cylinder. Position line out of way of clutch master cylinder removal path.





5. Remove clutch master cylinder hose from brake master cylinder.





6. Remove left lower I/P closeout panel (hush panel) push pins and remove left lower I/P closeout (hush panel).





7. Remove clutch master cylinder push rod from clutch pedal.
8. Remove clutch master cylinder mounting nuts and remove master cylinder.

INSTALLATION
1. Transfer clutch master cylinder hose to new clutch master cylinder.
2. Install clutch master cylinder and mounting nuts.
Torque: Clutch Master Cylinder Mounting Nuts: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
3. Connect clutch master cylinder rod to clutch pedal.





4. Install left lower I/P closeout panel (hush panel).





5. Install clutch master cylinder hose to brake master cylinder.





6. Attach clutch hydraulic line assembly to clutch master cylinder.
7. Connect hydraulic line assembly to body retaining clips.

NOTICE: Do not use mineral oil or a paraffin base oil in the hydraulic system. These fluids will damage the rubber parts in the cylinders. Only DOT 3 brake fluid should be used.

8. Add brake fluid as required and bleed clutch hydraulic system.
9. Inspect system for proper operation and fluid leaks. Repair as necessary.
