Clutch Installation
CLUTCH INSTALLATION- TOOLS REQUIRED
- J43482 Clutch Alignment Arbor
NOTICE: The flywheel and flex plate bolts are not interchangeable. Ensure that flywheel bolts are used or a powertrain failure may occur.
1. Install and hand start new flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts.
2. Torque the bolts in a crisscross pattern.
Torque:
Flywheel-to-Crankshaft Bolts: 53 Nm (39 ft. lbs.) + 25°
3. Install clutch disc and pressure plate assembly to flywheel and loosely install pressure plate bolts.
4. Install Clutch Alignment Arbor J43482 in clutch disc and push in until it bottoms out in crankshaft.
NOTICE: When tightening the clutch housing cover assembly bolts, do not tighten any one bolt more than half a turn at a time or the clutch cover assembly may warp.
5. Tighten bolts using a progressive crisscross pattern to prevent warping of pressure plate assembly.
Torque:
Pressure Plate-to-Flywheel Bolts: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
6. Remove clutch alignment arbor from clutch disc.
NOTICE: Excessive amounts of lubricant on the input shaft splines can contaminate the clutch disc and cause clutch shudder.
7. Lightly lube input shaft splines with clutch spline lubricant (P/N 21005995) or equivalent.
8. Install transaxle.
