REMOVAL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove rear wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove rear brake hose and bracket from control arm.
4. If equipped with rear disk brakes, remove caliper mounting bolts.
5. Remove caliper. Using mechanics wire attach caliper to strut assembly.
6. Remove brake drum/rotor attachment screw.
7. Remove brake drum/rotor.
8. If equipped, disconnect ABS sensor harness.
9. Remove wheel hub-to-control arm nuts.
10. Remove hub from vehicle.
11. Disconnect parking brake cable and remove park brake cable support.
NOTICE: Vehicles with drum brakes, do not remove wheel cylinder. Be sure to flex brake line at rubber hose only.
12. Separate backing plate from control arm. Using mechanics wire, support backing plate from strut assembly.
13. Remove shock absorber-to-control arm bolt and discard bolt.
14. Remove rear stabilizer bar link-to-rear control arm bolt.
15. Loosen rear suspension upper and lower control arm-to-rear axle control arm fasteners. Do not remove.
16. Remove rear axle control arm-to-body bolts and discard bolts.
17. Remove upper and lower rear suspension control arm bolts and nuts. Discard bolts and nuts.
18. Remove rear axle control arm from vehicle.
