FRONT STABILIZER BAR (L81)

REMOVAL





1. Remove stabilizer bar clamp bolts from frame.





2. Remove exhaust manifold pipe heat shield.
3. Raise vehicle on hoist.
4. Remove wheel and tire assemblies.





5. Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector and remove oxygen sensor from exhaust manifold pipe.





6. Remove exhaust manifold pipe fasteners and remove pipe from vehicle.

NOTICE: Hold ball stud from turning when removing nut. The boot can become torn and damaged if the ball stud turns.





7. Remove stabilizer link to stabilizer bar fasteners.
8. Remove stabilizer bar through left wheel opening.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: Stabilizer bar bushings must be installed with the slot facing the rear of vehicle.





1. Install stabilizer bar bushings.





2. Install stabilizer bar through left wheel opening.
3. Install clamps and hand tighten.

NOTICE: Hold ball stud from turning when removing nut. The boot can become torn and damaged if the ball stud turns.





4. Install stabilizer bar links.
Torque: Stabilizer Bar-to-Stabilizer Bar Link: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)
5. Inspect boots for damage and replace if damaged.





6. Install exhaust manifold pipe.
7. Tighten exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust manifold fasteners.
Torque: Exhaust Manifold Pipe-to-Exhaust Manifold Nuts: 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
8. Tighten exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust pipe fasteners.
Torque: Exhaust Manifold Pipe-to-Exhaust Pipe Bolts: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors. Failure to do so can cause wheel bolts to loosen in service.

9. Position wheel onto hub.
10. Install wheel bolts and tighten in a star pattern.
10.1. Hand tighten all five wheel bolts.
10.2. Use a torque wrench to tighten wheel bolts using a star pattern.
Torque: Wheel Bolts (Initial Torque): 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.)
10.3. Use a torque wrench to final tighten wheel bolts using a star pattern.
Torque: Wheel Bolts (Final Torque): 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.)
11. Lower vehicle from hoist.





12. Install exhaust manifold pipe heat shield.
Torque: Exhaust Manifold Pipe Heat Shield Bolts (L81): 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)





13. Tighten stabilizer bar clamps.
Torque: Stabilizer Bar Clamp-to-Frame Bolts: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
