Oxygen Sensor 1 (O2S-1)

TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J39194C O2 Sensor Wrench

REMOVAL

NOTE: The oxygen sensor uses a permanently attached pigtail and connector. This pigtail should not be removed from the O2S-1. Damage or removal of the pigtail or connector could affect proper operation of the oxygen sensor.

1. Ignition Off.
2. Disconnect O2S-1 harness connector.
3. Remove sensor harness and connector from attachment clip.
4. Use a liquid penetrate before removing sensor.

NOTE: Removal of the sensor is easier if the exhaust system is slightly warmed up. Be careful that the exhaust is not hot to work on safely. Moving the sensor back and forth while applying penetrating oil to the threads will aid in removal and will decrease the chance of exhaust pipe thread damage.

5. Remove O2S-1 using O2 Sensor Wrench J 39194C (or equivalent).

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Silicone based products will contaminate the O2S-1. Use only a nickel based anti-seize compound that does not contain silicone.

1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound Saturn P/N 21485279 (or equivalent) to the threads of the O2S-1.
2. Install O2S-1 using O2 sensor wrench J 39194C (or equivalent).

Torque:
Oxygen Sensor-to-Exhaust Manifold Pipe: 45 N.m (33 ft-lbs)

NOTE: DO NOT apply any material in the O2S-1 harness connector such as grease or dielectric compound.

3. Install sensor harness and connector to attachment clip.
4. Connect O2S-1 harness connector. Push in connector until a click is heard and pull back to confirm a positive engagement
