SUBJECT:
Windshield Wipers Chatter or Hop Across Windshield During Wiper Operation (Replace Wiper Blade Elements)

MODELS AFFECTED:
2001 Saturn L-Series Sedans and Wagons built before and including VIN 1Y530200

CONDITION:
Some customers may comment about the windshield wipers chattering or hopping across the windshield during wiper operation.

CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by wiper blade elements.

CORRECTION:
Install new wiper blade elements. Refer to the procedure in this bulletin for wiper blade element replacement.

IMPORTANT:
It is not necessary to replace the wiper blade arms.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Lift wiper arm away from glass.





2. Remove the existing wiper blade element by pulling downward at wiper blade end to disengage retaining tab. Pull blade element out of wiper assembly.

3. Obtain replacement wiper blade element.

- P/N 22674555 - Blade Element





4. Install wiper blade element by sliding it through the wiper blade claws until wiper arm tab is fully seated.

5. Function wipers to ensure proper operation.
