C0244 - PWM DELIVERED TORQUE MALFUNCTION





Traction control is simultaneously controlled by the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) and the Powertrain Control Module/Engine Control Module (PCM/ECM). The PCM/ECM sends a delivered torque message via a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal to the EBTCM confirming the delivered engine torque level for proper traction control system operation. The EBTCM supplies the pull up voltage.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC C0244 will set if the following conditions exist:
^ There is an interruption in the delivered torque circuit between the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) and Powertrain Control Module/Engine Control Module (PCM/ECM).
^ The EBTCM receives an out of range or no signal for 2 seconds continuously.
^ Ignition voltage is present and the EBTCM detects engine rpm greater than 480.
^ When this DTC sets, the EBTCM will disable traction control.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ Inspect wiring for:
- Backed out terminals
- Improper mating
- Broken connector locks
- Improperly formed or damaged terminals
- Poor terminal-to-wiring connections.
- Physical damage to the wiring harness.

^ Possible causes for DTC C0244 to set:
- Open in the delivered torque circuit
- The delivered torque circuit shorted to ground or voltage
- Communication frequency problem
- Communication duty cycle problem
- The delivered torque circuit has a wiring problem, terminal corrosion, or poor connections
- Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) not receiving information from Powertrain Control Module/Engine Control Module (PCM/ECM).
