Cruise Control
The cruise control system on this vehicle is different from conventional systems in that there is no cable to hold the throttle open, nor is there a cruise control module. The electronic throttle control system makes these components unnecessary, and simplifies cruise control diagnostics. This is because a cruise control failure means that one or more of the sensors or switches associated with the system are not working properly. Diagnosing and correcting these sensor and switch failures will also restore the cruise control system to its proper functioning state. The following diagnostic trouble codes DTCs could result in cruise control malfunctions, and should be diagnosed in the case of a cruise control inoperative condition.
DTC P0121 TP Sensor 1 Circuit Performance
DTC P0122 TP Sensor 1 Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P0123 TP Sensor 1 Circuit High Voltage
DTC P0221 TP Sensor 2 Circuit Performance
DTC P0222 TP Sensor 2 Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P0223 TP Sensor 2 Circuit High Voltage
DTC P0500 OSS Circuit Low Input
DTC P0571 Cruise/Brake Switch Circuit
DTC P0705 Trans Range Switch Circuit (from transaxle control module)
DTC P1271 APP Sensor 1-2 Circuit Performance
DTC P1277 APP Sensor 1 Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P1278 APP Sensor 1 Circuit High Voltage
DTC P1282 APP Sensor 2 Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P1283 APP Sensor 2 Circuit High Voltage
Cruise control operation is prohibited by the engine control module (ECM) if it detects an invalid signal from the vehicle speed sensor, from the cruise/brake or stop lamp switches. Cruise control will remain inoperable until the end of the ignition cycle even if the fault condition should disappear.
