Fluid - M/T: Service and Repair
TRANSAXLE FLUID CHANGING PROCEDUREIMPORTANT:
- The manual transaxle is filled with fluid at the manufacturer and requires no routine oil changes. If it is determined that the fluid needs to be changed due to contamination or similar issue, follow this procedure.
- To ensure that all sediment within the transaxle is suspended in the fluid, the fluid should only be drained after it has reached a normal operating temperature of 88 - 93° C (190 - 200° F). Normal operating temperature is reached after approximately 25 km (15 miles) of highway driving.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
1. Position vehicle on hoist and raise vehicle.
CAUTION: THE TRANSAXLE FLUID IS HOT, CAUTION MUST BE TAKEN TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY WHEN TRANSAXLE FLUID DRAINS FROM THE TRANSAXLE.
