Front Wheel Speed Sensor and Bracket

FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND BRACKET

REMOVAL

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.

1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.





3. Disconnect wheel speed sensor electrical connector.

NOTICE: The outer drive axle joint has a speed sensor ring. Be careful not to damage this ring when performing service operations near knuckle and drive axle. Never pry against the speed sensor ring. Even minor scratching of speed sensor ring may result in a loss of ABS.





4. Remove wheel speed sensor to bracket TORX head bolt.
5. Remove wheel speed sensor.

NOTICE: Wheel speed sensor bracket uses a locating pin on the steering knuckle. Be careful not to break the pin when removing the bracket.

6. Remove wheel speed sensor bracket to steering knuckle bolt.

INSTALLATION

1. Position wheel speed sensor bracket into steering knuckle and install fastener.
Torque: Wheel Speed Sensor Bracket-to-Steering Knuckle: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
2. Install wheel speed sensor into bracket.
Torque: Wheel Speed Sensor-to-Steering Sensor Bracket: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
3. Connect wheel speed sensor electrical connector.

NOTICE: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors. Failure to do so can cause wheel bolts to loosen in service.

4. Install wheel and tire assemblies onto hub.
5. Install wheel bolts and tighten in a star pattern.
5.1 Hand tighten all five wheel bolts.
5.2 Use a torque wrench to tighten wheel bolts using a star pattern.
Torque: Wheel Bolts (Initial Torque): 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.)
5.3 Use a torque wrench to final tighten wheel bolts using a star pattern.
Torque: Wheel Bolts (Final Torque): 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.)
6. Lower vehicle from hoist.
