PASSLOCK - Programming

There are two methods used to program/reprogram the passlock system. These are the Saturn Service Stall Method and the Auto Learn Method.

Saturn Service Stall Method
^ This method takes about 10 minutes for programming.
^ A programming system is required (refer to TIS 2000/Service Stall User Guide).
^ A Scan tool is required.

Auto Learn Method (Optional)
^ This method is usable, if the Passlock sensor, ECM/PCM replacement was required.
^ This method takes about 30 minutes.
^ A Scan tool is not required.

Both methods are included in the flow chart security system relearn procedure

IMPORTANT: If no passlock components are replaced the 30 minute auto-learn can always be used.

The following shows when the relearn procedure needs to be performed.

Controller Replaced:

BCM:
1. The new service BCM will automatically learn the voltage code from the Passlock sensor.
2. Password from the BCM to the PCM/ECM requires the Saturn Service Stall to learn the new password in order to enable fuel and start the vehicle. Initiate the 10-minute relearn procedure.
3. RKE transmitters will carry over from the previous BCM when using the Saturn Service Stall System.

PCM: (4 cylinder)
1. The Saturn Service Stall System will be required, initiate the 10-minute relearn for the fuel enable password from the existing BCM.

ECM: (6 cylinder)
1. The Saturn Service Stall System will be required initiate the 10-minute relearn for the fuel enable password from the existing BCM.

TCM: (6 cylinder)
1. No relearn required for controller replacement.

Passlock Sensor (Ignition Module)
1. The Saturn Service Stall will be required to initiate the 10-minute relearn procedure for the existing BCM.
