13. Reverse Input and 2ND Roller Clutch Disassemble
REVERSE INPUT AND 2ND ROLLER CLUTCH DISASSEMBLE1. Remove reverse clutch snap ring.
2. Remove reverse clutch plates, backing plate, steel plates, fiber plates, and a waved plate.
3. Compress reverse clutch return spring. Use Clutch Spring Compressor Adapter J41232 and Clutch Spring Compressor J23327.
4. Remove reverse clutch return spring and retainer snap ring.
5. Remove J41232 and J23327.
6. Remove reverse clutch return spring and retainer assembly.
7. Remove reverse clutch piston and seal assembly.
IMPORTANT: If seal assembly is not damaged, do not remove seal assembly.
8. Inspect reverse clutch inner seal.
9. If seal assembly is damaged, perform the following procedure in order to remove seal assembly:
Use snap ring pliers to install Forward/Reverse Inner Seal Remover J41097 under outer lip of reverse clutch inner seal.
Place Forward/Reverse Inner Seal Remover J41097 on inner hub of reverse clutch housing.
Use Three Jaw Puller J2503 1-A in order to remove seal.
NOTICE: Be careful when removing second roller clutch not to score roller clutch inner race with screwdrivers.
10. Remove 2nd roller clutch and roller clutch retainer by prying up on roller clutch assembly with two screwdrivers. The second roller clutch retainer is pressed onto reverse clutch housing and is not reusable after removal.
IMPORTANT: In order to remove 2nd roller clutch, rotate roller clutch clockwise until indexed with roller clutch cam ramps.
11. Remove 2nd roller clutch from inside of roller clutch cam.
12. Inspect reverse housing for excessive band wear and damaged splines.
13. Inspect exhaust checkball for damage or clogging.
14. Inspect fluid feed holes for obstructions.
15. Inspect roller clutch for excessive wear.
16. Inspect spring assembly for dislocated or damaged springs.
17. Inspect all components for damage and excessive wear.
18. Clean and dry all components.
