5. Intake Manifold Removal

INTAKE MANIFOLD (UNIT REPAIR) REMOVAL

REMOVAL

NOTICE: Never attempt to remove the intake manifold from a hot engine, allow engine to cool to ambient temperature. The intake manifold is made of a composite plastic and can be damaged if it is removed when the engine is hot.





1. Disconnect fuel pressure regulator hose from throttle body and fuel rail.





2. Remove throttle body.





3. Remove fuel pipes and clip. Remove fuel rail assembly.





4. Remove the knock sensor connector from the intake manifold.
5. Remove knock sensor.





6. Remove intake manifold retaining nuts and bolts.
7. Remove intake manifold.
8. Remove intake manifold gasket. The gasket is reusable if it is not damaged.
9. If intake manifold needs to be replaced, transfer the following parts:
- Throttle body
- Throttle body gasket. The manifold to throttle body gasket is reusable if it is not damaged.
