Coolant Line/Hose: Service and Repair
HEATER INLET/OUTLET HOSESREMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Drain coolant.
3. Position approved coolant container under vehicle below heater hose connections to catch any coolant that may be trapped in the lines.
NOTICE: Green plastic rings may be found hanging on heater pipe after hose removal, this is a manufacturing aid and should be discarded.
4. If only one hose is being serviced, open hose assembly clamp and remove.
5. Remove heater inlet hose from heater core pipe by depressing quick connect collar tab, located at 6 o'clock, and pulling collar (black) toward front of vehicle and then pull quick connect off of heater core pipe.
6. Remove heater outlet hose from heater core pipe by depressing quick connect collar tab, located at 6 o'clock, and pulling collar (white) toward front of vehicle and then pull quick connect off of heater core pipe.
7. Remove heater core inlet hose to engine housing clamp and remove hose.
8. Remove heater core outlet hose to thermostat housing clamp and remove hose.
INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Heater inlet hose quick connect coupling collar is black. Heater outlet quick connect coupling collar is white.
IMPORTANT: White line on hoses should always be installed at 12 o'clock position.
1. Install heater core outlet hose to thermostat housing at rear of engine.
2. Position heater core inlet hose to thermostat housing clamp at 12 o'clock position.
3. Install heater outlet hose to thermostat housing at left side of housing.
4. Position heater outlet hose to thermostat housing clamp at 12 o'clock position.
5. Install heater inlet quick connect to heater inlet pipe (closest to drivers side). Holding quick connect by black collar, slide onto heater pipe. When quick connect engages heater pipe bead, collar will slide toward the front of dash and lock into position.
6. Verify proper engagement of quick connect by attempting to pull inlet hose off of heater pipe.
7. Install heater core outlet quick connect to heater outlet pipe (closest to passenger side). Holding quick connect by white collar, slide onto heater pipe. When quick connect engages heater pipe bead, collar will slide toward the front of dash and lock into position.
8. Verify proper engagement of quick connect by attempting to pull outlet hose off of heater pipe.
9. Install heater hose assembly clamp (if removed).
10. Connect negative battery cable.
Torque:
Battery Terminal Bolts: 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
11. Fill cooling system.
