Control Module: Service and Repair

TRANSAXLE CONTROL MODULE (TCM)

REMOVAL
1. Raise hood.





2. Lift up right end of hood seal.





3. Lift up right side of cowl cover.





4. Remove nuts from transaxle control module cover.





5. Lift cover off of studs.
6. Depress lock and rotate connector lever down.
7. Disconnect transaxle control module electrical connector.





8. Depress lock tab holding transaxle control module in carrier.





9. Lift transaxle control module straight up to remove from carrier.

INSTALLATION
1. Insert transaxle control module into carrier.





2. Push straight down until module bottoms in carrier and lock tab clicks.
3. Connect electrical connector to module.





4. Rotate connector lock up past lock tab to seat connector.
5. Install transaxle control module cover over studs.

NOTICE: If transaxle control module cover nuts are over-tightened, damage to mounting studs may occur.





6. Install and tighten transaxle control module cover nuts.
Torque:
Transaxle Control Module (TCM) Cover Nuts: 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.)





7. Install right side of cowl cover.





8. Install right end of hood seal.

IMPORTANT: The transaxle control module must be reprogrammed when a service replacement module is installed or a DTC 602 will result. (The transaxle control replacement module will have a DTC 602 in it from the factory and can only be cleared by reprogramming it with the correct calibration.) Programming and Relearning
