53. Driven Sprocket Support Assembly Disassemble

DRIVEN SPROCKET SUPPORT ASSEMBLY DISASSEMBLE





1. Remove seal rings from driven sprocket support.
2. Discard seal rings.





3. Compress 2nd clutch spring and retainer assembly. Use Clutch Spring Compressor Adapter J41232 and Clutch Spring Compressor J23327.
4. Remove 2nd clutch spring retainer snap ring.
5. Remove J41232 and J23327.





6. Remove 2nd clutch spring and retainer assembly.
7. Remove 2nd clutch piston and seal assembly. If not damaged, piston and seal assembly is reusable.





8. Inspect piston and seal assembly for damaged seals.
9. If seal is cut or damaged replace seal with a new piston and seal assembly.
10. Inspect spring assembly for dislocated or damaged spring.
11. Clean and dry all components.





12. Inspect bushing and bearing for damage or excessive wear.
13. Inspect driven sprocket support for plugged feed holes, damaged seal grooves, stripped bolt holes, and a damaged machined surface.





14. Inspect reverse intermediate clutch housing valve assembly for free operation.

IMPORTANT: The valve assembly must be in its seated position before the leak test is performed.

15. Using automatic transaxle fluid, inspect reverse intermediate clutch housing valve assembly for leaks.

IMPORTANT: Remove reverse clutch housing valve assembly only if inspection or leak test has indicated a problem.





16. Using a 6.25 mm (1/4 inch) drift and a mallet, remove valve assembly from driven sprocket support.





17. Using a 6.25 mm (1/4 inch) drift and a mallet, install valve assembly in driven sprocket support.
18. Clean and dry all components.
