11. Camshaft Drive Sprocket Removal

CAMSHAFT DRIVE GEAR (UNIT REPAIR)

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J42065 Crank Hub Holding Tool
- J42069 Timing Belt Alignment Kit
- J42098 Crank Hub Torx Socket

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: Some lobes on the camshafts may be under load from the lifters. Rotate camshafts carefully until camshafts are no longer under a load if applicable.





1. Install Timing Belt Alignment Kit J42069-1 between camshaft gear 1 and 2 to hold camshaft gears in place while removing bolt.
2. Install Timing Belt Alignment Kit J42069-2 between camshaft gear 3 and 4 to hold camshaft gears in place while removing bolt.





3. Remove camshaft gear bolts and discard.
4. Remove camshaft gear washers.
5. Remove camshaft gears.
6. Remove J42069 camshaft locking tools. Rotate crank 60 degrees BTDC to ensure that valves do not contact pistons.
7. Install Crank Hub Holding Tool J42065 and remove crank hub torx using Crank Hub Torx Socket J42098.
8. Remove crankshaft drive gear bolt and discard.
9. Remove drive gear.
