Disabling

SIR DISABLE/ENABLE PROCEDURE (FOR FRONTAL AND CURTAIN INFLATORS)

CAUTION: WHEN YOU ARE PERFORMING SERVICE ON OR NEAR THE SIR COMPONENTS OR THE SIR WIRING, YOU MUST DISABLE THE SIR SYSTEM. REFER TO RESTRAINT SYSTEMS. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE CORRECT PROCEDURE COULD CAUSE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, PERSONAL INJURY, OR UNNECESSARY SIR SYSTEM REPAIRS.

DISABLING THE FRONTAL AND CURTAIN INFLATORS
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn ignition switch to the OFF position and remove key.
3. Remove IGN1 mini-fuse from under hood fuse block.

Disabling the Frontal Inflators





4. Remove lower left L/P closeout panel.
5. Push out clips that secure the driver and passenger inflator module (YEL 2-way) connectors to L/P panel brace.
6. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) retainers.





7. Disconnect both (YEL 2-way) connectors.

Disabling the Curtain Inflators





8. Remove C-pillar trim on both the left and right side of the vehicle.
8.1 Remove rear seat shoulder belt cover to expose shoulder belt fastener.
8.2 Remove shoulder belt fastener and shoulder belt.
8.3 Fold down rear seat back.
8.4 Route shoulder belt out of C-pillar trim access slot.
8.5 Remove C-pillar trim assembly by pulling gently at C-pillar clip locations.

9. Remove CPA retainer.





10. Disconnect left and right curtain inflator module (YEL 2-way) connectors.
