Side Impact Sensor (SIS)

REMOVAL
Right side shown, left side similar.




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
2. Remove center pillar lower molding.
2.1 Move front seat to forward position.
2.2 Remove carpet retainer in area surrounding center pillar lower molding by pulling at attaching clip locations.
2.3 Install masking tape around center pillar at lower portion of upper molding to ensure upper molding stays attached to center pillar.




3. Remove SIS fasteners.
4. Remove SIS.
5. Disconnect SIS connector.

INSTALLATION
1. Finger start fasteners to SIS.
2. Connect SIS connector and insert CPA to secure.
3. Place SIS through access hole in B-pillar.
4. Move module up and locate the captured fastener through key slots in B-pillar.
5. Drive captured fasteners to secure.

Torque:
SIS Fasteners: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)




6. Install center pillar lower molding.
6.1 Engage center pillar lower attaching tabs to center pillar upper molding.
6.2 Secure the center pillar lower molding to vehicle by gently pushing on molding at attaching clips.
6.3 Remove tape.




6.4 Install carpet retainer by gently pushing at attaching clip locations.
6.5 Install weatherstrip over center pillar lower molding and carpet retainer using flat blade tool.
6.6 Function shoulder belt to ensure proper operation.
6.7 Place front seat in original position.
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
