Service Manual Update for Removal of the Sealer Used on Oil Pump Gasket During Oil Pump Installation
Models Affected:
2000-2003 Saturn L-Series and 2002-2003 Saturn VUE vehicles with
3.0L Engine (VIN 8 - RPO L81)
Attention: Technician
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide updated service information regarding the oil pump installation procedure. The current procedure for applying Permatex(R) Anaerobic sealant (or equivalent) or Loctite(R) 518 (or equivalent) to the gasket surface is no longer needed.
Notice:
Use of Permatex(R) Anaerobic sealant (or equivalent) or Loctite(R) 518 (or equivalent) sealant may result in future leaks.
Important:
Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 03-06-01-014 for updated J-42065 Crank Hub Holding Tool usage when removing the crankshaft drive gear bolt.
Please obtain all 2000 Saturn L-Series (L81) Engine Revised, 2001 Saturn L-Series (L81) Engine, 2002-2003 Saturn L-Series Engine, and 2002-2003 Saturn VUE Engine Service Manuals and make the updates as indicated below.
