BULLETIN NO.: 02-T-62ISSUE DATE: August, 2002
CATEGORY TYPE: Body - 13
CATEGORY: General
CORPORATION NO.: 02-08-43-003
SUBJECT:
Service Information Regarding Redesigned Wiper Linkage and New Service Procedures.
MODELS AFFECTED:
2000 - 2003 L-Series vehicles
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bulletin is to notify you about a redesigned wiper linkage and to provide new service procedures regarding linkage and motor replacement. A redesigned front wiper linkage is being used on all 2003 model year L-Series vehicles. This redesign includes a change from 12 mm ball and socket attachments between the motor and the linkage to a 14 mm ball and socket attachment between the motor and linkage. All Linkage service parts P/N 22699213 will be the 2003 design and can be used to back service 2000 thru 2003 models. The replacement linkage will include an updated motor crank arm with a 14 mm ball stud, a new washer and attachment nut. The redesign will require the new motor crank arm be attached to the existing motor when replacing the front wiper linkage on 2000 thru 2002 L-Series vehicles.
In addition the replacement front wiper motor service part P/N 22699805 will not be provided with a crank arm. This will require the technician to transfer the crank arm from the original motor to the replacement motor on all 2000 thru 2003 L-Series vehicles.
Follow the service procedures in this bulletin when replacing a front wiper motor, or front wiper linkage. For installation of the crank arm to the motor, timing of the motor, and crank arm to the front linkage, refer to the "Wiper/Washer" section of the applicable year Body/Electrical Volume II Service Manual for wiper motor and linkage removal.
