Horn - Intermittently Low/Muffled or No Tone

(Replace Horn Assembly)

MODELS AFFECTED:

2002 L-Series vehicles built between and including the following VINs

2Y564790 - 2Y570943

CONDITION:

Some customers may comment about a muffled tone or an intermittent low or no tone when the horn is activated.

CAUSE:

This condition is caused by water intrusion into the horn assembly under wet driving conditions.

CORRECTION:

To correct this condition replace the horn assembly with the current horn assembly available from Saturn Service Parts Organization (SSPO). The current horn assembly has a deflection shield added to prevent water from entering the horn assembly. To replace the horn assembly refer to "Horn" removal and installation procedures in the Horn section of the 2002 L-Series Body/Electrical Volume II Service Manual.
