Flex Plate: Service and Repair

ENGINE FLEXPLATE REPLACEMENT (IN-VEHICLE)

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J42098 Crank Hub Torx Socket

REMOVAL





1. Remove the transmission.
2. Use the Crank Hub Torx Socket J42098 to counterhold the crankshaft to remove the flexplate bolts.
3. Remove the flexplate from the crankshaft.
4. Clean the rear crankshaft flange.

INSTALLATION





1. Install the flexplate to the crankshaft.
- Use new flex plate bolts.
- Coat the new flex plate bolts with Loctite- 272 Threadlocker or equivalent.
2. Use the crank hub tore socket J42098 to counterhold the crankshaft and install the flexplate bolts.
Torque:
Flex Plate Bolt: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.) + 30 degrees + 15 degrees
3. Install the transmission.
