CONTROL SHAFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (ON-VEHICLE)TOOLS REQUIRED
- 87-92-335 Shift Linkage Lock Pin
REMOVAL
1. Pull up control lever boot to disengage from console.
2. Move shift lever to 5th/Reverse Gate and use a 3/8" punch to hold in place.
IMPORTANT: Note the original position of the A.I.R. components.
3. Remove clamp from A.I.R. hose behind the cooling fan.
4. Separate the A.I.R. tube from the hose and push the tube back towards the transaxle.
5. Remove the hose clip holding the two power steering lines together.
6. Lock transaxle shift control shaft in 5th/Reverse gate. There is a hole on top of transaxle that will have either a spring loaded locking pin or a hole plug.

Torque:
Control Arm Rod-to-Control Lever Asm Pinch Bolt: 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) + 180°
4. Release transaxle shift control shaft.
- If transaxle has spring loaded locking pin, remove punch from shift lever and rock lever back and forth until lever can be moved freely.
IMPORTANT: If transaxle hole plug was damaged during removal, install new plug during reassembly.
- If there was a plug in the transaxle hole, remove punch from shift lever, remove Shift Linkage Lock Pin 87-92-335, and reinstall plug
5. Install the hose clip to the two power steering lines.
6. Pull the A.I.R. tube back to the original position.
