P0727

P0727- ENGINE SPEED CIRCUIT - NO SIGNAL

The ECM sends engine rpm information to the TCM via the CAN bus. The ECM also determines if the engine rpm information is reliable or not, and sends that information to the TCM. DTC P0727 sets when the TCM receives an invalid engine rpm signal from the ECM.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0727 will set when the engine speed signal is not valid for 2 seconds when:
- The system voltage is between 8 and 18 volts.
- Engine speed is between 500 rpm and cutoff for more than 5 seconds.

DTC P0727 diagnostic runs continuously when the above have been met.
P0727 is a type A DTC

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This code does not indicate a problem with the TCM or transmission. It does indicate that the ECM is not sending the required information to the TCM.
Check for any DTCs stored in the ECM related to the Crank Position (CKP) sensor circuit and refer to the appropriate diagnostics.
Clear DTCs in the TCM after repair is made to the CKP sensor circuit.
