23. Crankshaft and Bearing Removal

CRANKSHAFT AND BEARINGS (UNIT REPAIR)

REMOVAL





1. Remove oil pickup tube.
2. Remove oil baffle.





3. Remove crankshaft bearing bridge bolts.





4. Remove main bearing cap bolts.





5. Remove crankshaft bearing bridge.





6. Remove first main bearing cap.
7. Remove first main bearing cap lower insert.
8. Remove second main bearing cap.
9. Remove second main bearing cap lower insert.
10. Remove third main bearing cap.
11. Remove third main bearing cap lower insert.
12. Perform the following steps to remove fourth main bearing cap.
12.1. Insert a bolt into main bearing cap oil pan threaded hole or pry the crankshaft and drain bearing cap from the block using pry bar at each end of the flywheel.
12.2. Use a pry bar to pry the cap from the block.
12.3. Remove fourth main bearing cap.
12.4. Remove fourth main bearing cap lower insert.





13. Carefully remove crankshaft from engine block.
14. Remove crankshaft reluctor ring bolts.
15. Remove crankshaft reluctor ring.
16. Remove crankcase ventilation baffle from #4 upper main bearing journal.
