Oil Pump Assemble

^ Tools Required
- J 35268-A Camshaft/Front Main Seal Installer

Important: Do not cover and/or restrict the gasket opening with excess sealant.





1. Coat the pump side of the new oil pump gasket in the crosshatched areas shown in the illustration with a thin, even coating of anaerobic sealant LOCTITE 518 or equivalent.
2. Install the oil pump gasket.
3. Install the oil pump and align with the guide pins.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Apply thread sealant LOCTITE 242 or equivalent to the oil pump bolts and install the bolts.
^ Tighten the oil pump bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).





5. Install the oil pump collar.
6. Install the front main oil seal. Coat the lip of the front main oil seal with a small amount of clean engine oil to aid in installation.
7. Use the J 35268-A to install the front main oil seal.
8. Ensure that the front main oil seal is fully and evenly seated.





9. Install the crankshaft drive gear.
10. Install a new crankshaft drive gear bolt. Tighten
10.1. First Pass:
Tighten the crankshaft drive gear bolt to 250 Nm (184 ft. lbs.).
10.2. Second Pass:
Plus 45°
10.3. Final Pass:
Plus 15°





11. Install the oil pickup tube.
^ Tighten the oil pickup tube bolts to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
12. Install the oil pan.





13. Release and pivot the generator into place and install the generator lower mounting bolt.
^ Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
14. Position the A/C compressor and the power steering pump bracket.
15. Install the 'C compressor and the power steering pump bracket bolts.
^ Tighten the A/C compressor bracket bolt to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
16. Install the rear timing belt cover.






Important: The oil pump bolts must be tightened to the appropriate specifications AFTER the generator mounting bolts and the drive belt idler pulley for the camshafts 3 and 4 have been tightened to the specifications to allow for the proper compression of the oil pump gasket.

17. Install and tighten the drive belt idler pulley for camshafts 3 and 4. Tighten the oil pump bolts.
^ Tighten the oil pump bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).





18. Install the timing belt.
19. Install the air cleaner assembly.
20. Connect the negative battery cable.
^ Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
21. Fill the cooling system.
