CATEGORY TYPE: Electrical - 10
CATEGORY: Entertainment
CORPORATION NO.: 02-08-44-021
SUBJECT:
DVD Player Will Not Accept Disc
(Remove/Reinstall Fuse)
MODELS AFFECTED:
2002 and 2003 LS and LW Vehicles Equipped with DVD Player (RPO code U32)
CONDITION:
Some customers may comment that the DVD Player will not accept a video disc
CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by voltage spikes transmitted to the DVD system during removal or installation of the radio electrical connectors as part of the radio service procedures.
CORRECTION:
Please refer to the service procedure shown.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
IMPORTANT:
It has been determined that radio service procedures that require removal of the radio electrical connectors may create a voltage spike which can effect the DVD Disc Drive software. This can cause a "no accept" condition when attempting to install a video disc. To prevent this condition, remove the 10 amp radio fuse located in the underhood fuse block before performing any radio service procedures that require disconnecting the radio electrical connections.
1. If the DVD player displays a "no accept" condition, the disc drive software can be reset by removing the 10 amp radio fuse located in the underhood fuse block for 30 seconds.
2. After the 30 seconds has elapsed, re-install the fuse and verify the DVD player will accept the disc.
3. If the DVD player accepts the disc, no further action is required.
4. If the DVD player will not accept the disc, refer to Service Information Bulletin 02-I-01A for further information.
