Pressure Bleeding
CLUTCH HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING - PRESSURE BLEEDINGTOOLS REQUIRED

NOTICE: Do not use mineral oil or a paraffin base oil in the hydraulic system. These fluids will damage the rubber parts in the cylinders. Only DOT 3 brake fluid should be used.
IMPORTANT: This procedure outlines how to bleed the clutch hydraulic system with the transaxle in the vehicle. If the transaxle has been removed from the vehicle, the clutch slave cylinder must be bled prior to reinstalling the transaxle.
1. Clean brake fluid reservoir cap and area around cap.
2. Remove cap and fill reservoir with clean brake fluid.
3. Install Brake Bleeder Adapter J43915 (or equivalent) to brake fluid reservoir.
4. Connect pressure bleeder to adapter.
5. Charge pressure bleeder equipment to 138 - 172 kPa (20 - 25 psi).
6. Attach transparent hose over clutch bleeder screw nipple. Submerge other end of hose in a container of brake fluid.
7. Loosen clutch bleeder screw on transaxle hydraulic fitting.
8. Bleed system until no air bubbles are seen in hose.
9. Tighten clutch bleeder screw.
10. Check clutch pedal feel for sponginess. If clutch pedal exhibits this feel, repeat bleeding procedure until condition is gone.
11. Remove pressure bleeder equipment and check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir. Add fluid as necessary.
