Separating Parts

In addition to its excellent sealing capabilities, RTV forms an adhesive bond which often makes the part difficult to remove. RTV is weakest in shear strength and parts should therefore be bumped sideways when possible, rather than pried up to remove. This technique will prevent damage to part. Any bumping should be done at bend or reinforced areas to prevent distortion of parts. Saturn service tool SA9123E has been released to assist with component removal.
