Fluid Line/Hose: Service and Repair
TRANSAXLE OIL COOLER LINES REMOVALCAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
1. Position vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove air cleaner and duct assembly.
IMPORTANT: To remove upper cooler line from transaxle squeeze plastic tabs at connector and pull line out of connector. The plastic retainer remains on the line.
3. Disconnect upper transaxle cooler line from transaxle.
4. Use line wrench to remove upper transaxle cooler line from radiator.
5. Remove upper cooler line from vehicle.
6. For lower transaxle cooler line, raise vehicle. Remove front splash shield fasteners and remove splash shield.
7. Use a line wrench to remove lower transaxle cooler line from radiator.
IMPORTANT: To remove cooler line from transaxle squeeze plastic tabs at connector and pull line out of connector. The plastic retainer remains on the line.
8. Disconnect lower transaxle cooler line from transaxle.
9. Remove cooler line from vehicle.
10. Remove plastic retainer from line using small screwdriver to pry tabs away from line (pry where indicated by arrows) far enough to slip retainer over rib on line.
11. Inspect plastic retainer for cracks or other signs of fatigue. Replace if necessary.
IMPORTANT: If replacing cooler line fitting, case threads must be clean and dry. Replacement cooler line fitting comes with a pre-applied sealant.
12. Remove and replace transaxle cooler line fitting if leakage is present.
Torque:
Transaxle Cooler Line Fitting-to-Case: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
1. Install lower transaxle cooler line to radiator.
Torque:
Transaxle Cooler Line Fitting-to-Radiator: 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.)
IMPORTANT: Push line into fitting until it bottoms out and verify by gently trying to pull the line out of the fitting.
2. Install plastic retainer to lower transaxle cooler line and install retainer into cooler line fitting at transaxle.
3. Install front splash shield and install front splash shield fasteners.
4. Lower vehicle.
IMPORTANT: Push line into fitting until it bottoms out and verity by gently trying to pull the line out of the fitting.
5. Install plastic retainer to upper transaxle cooler line and install retainer into cooler line fitting at transaxle.
6. Install upper transaxle cooler line to radiator.
Torque:
Transaxle Cooler Line Fitting-to-Radiator: 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.)
7. Install air cleaner and duct assembly.
Torque:
Air Box Attachment Bolts: 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
8. Check fluid level and add as necessary.
9. Run engine and check for leaks.
