Suction Pipe

REMOVAL




1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

IMPORTANT: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with a purity identifier before recovery is recommended.

2. Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system. Measure the amount of oil removed during recovery and record.

CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE HOSES OR LINES BEFORE SYSTEM IS FULLY DISCHARGED.




3. Remove suction pipe-to-compressor bolt.
4. Remove suction pipe and seal washer from compressor.
5. Install caps on pipe and compressor to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.




6. Raise vehicle.
7. Remove suction pipe to suction line assembly nut.
8. Remove suction pipe and seal washer from suction/liquid line assembly.
9. Install cap on suction line assembly hose to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
10. Lower vehicle.

INSTALLATION




1. Remove compressor suction port cap and add any PAG oil that was removed during refrigerant recovery.

NOTE: Do not lubricate seal washers.

IMPORTANT: Always install new seal washers to prevent refrigerant leaks.

2. Remove suction pipe cap and install new seal washer.
3. Install suction pipe to compressor and hand start bolt.

Torque:
Suction Pipe-to-Compressor Bolt: 16 N.m (142 in-lbs)

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.




4. Raise vehicle.

NOTE: Do not lubricate seal washers.

IMPORTANT: Always install new seal washers to prevent refrigerant leaks.

5. Remove suction/liquid line assembly cap and install new seal washer.
6. Install suction/liquid line assembly to suction pipe and hand start nut.

Torque:
Suction/Liquid Line-to-Suction Pipe Nut: 12 N.m (9 ft-lbs)




7. Lower vehicle.
8. Connect negative battery cable.

Torque:
Battery Terminal Bolts: 17 N.m (13 ft-lbs)

9. Evacuate, charge, and leak check the A/C system.
